Bio
I am a Professional Fitness Competitor in the IFBB, I train a fitness and figure competitors as well as fellow writers. I have also started writing again after many years.

I have been competing for over ten years, and have trained competitors for about eight years. I also promote competitions, with an annual show in the fall as well as the 2008 and 2009 Canadian Figure and Fitness Championships.

Although my career has been working in and around gyms, I have a combined honours degree in English and Drama from McMaster University. In the fall of '08 I returned to my love of writing, began with short stories and a fantasy novel. My second short story submission "Mama's Boy" was accepted for Edge Publishing's Anthology, Evolve, edited by Nancy Kilpatrick. It will be released as a special edition at the 2010 World Horror Convention.

The fantasy novel didn't work out for me, I realized during a writing workshop that it wasn't what I should be writing! I switched to a new idea and finished the first draft in under three months. Now, I'm deep into rewriting and revisions, since this is my first novel I've completed since I was nine years old, I'm left with a lot of things to fix, add and improve on.

While the training and competitions takes up a great deal of time, I always wanted to get back to my writing. What got me back into it finally, was listening to by several podcast (I Should Be Writing, Adventures in SciFi publishing), writing sites like AbsoluteWrite as well as a local fantasy, sci fi and gaming convention and the World Fantasy Convention.

Sandra Competing in a Pro Fitness Competition
I think that if I can stand up in front of judges and audiences in a teeny tiny bikini and jump around doing fitness routines, I can handle the ups and downs of the publishing world! Or at least I hope that my years competing have prepared me. I am used to discipline, I am used to deadlines, I am used to being judged by official judges as well as fans.

My leap into the world of writing has been a fun one so far. I am excited to enter a whole new community and hopeful for great things in the future.
